Applications
File encryption is no longer an exotic solution only
available for governments and the intelligence community.
It's a common-sense proactive measure to safeguard
your data and your privacy, at home, in the workplace
and on the go.
Home
In the home, CryptoFS can be used to selectively
protect your files from exposure to family or friends
using your computer or even a determined hacker looking
to steal your identity or your computer.
Work
In the workplace, CryptoFS can help prevent disclosure
of corporate secrets by enforcing compartmentalization
of data, preventing casual or aggressive snooping
by employees and defending against corporate espionage.
Laptops
On the go, CryptoFS can ensure that if your laptop
is stolen, the information on it will be inaccessible
even to a technically savvy thief.
Also, unfortunately, you're probably aware, that
airport security can seize your laptop without due
process. They can demand you provide them with the
password to access your system and its files. CryptoFS
has multiple ways to protect your data from prying
eyes:
- In the Corporate and Enterprise Editions you can
forward the header file and the file system will
not be accessible except by you when you return.
No matter what you do, or what password you are
forced to give, the data will not be available until
the header file is reattached.
- Another way to protect your data is to use a duress
password and wipe your drive. Reflections can restore
all your files when you return.
- You can also uninstall CryptoFS but leave your
file system in place. In that case the file system
looks like just another large cache used by the
operating system. When you get back you can reinstall
CFS and again gain access to your files.
You lock your car, house and office, why not your
file system?
CFS is part of a product line and has an upgrade pathway.
Upgrades to CFS provide additional capabilities such
as:
- Reflections
When Reflections is added to CryptoFS it allows
you to make remote secure mirrors of your data.
You can install CFS and Reflections on the remote
system and copy your data without the worry that
someone at the remote system can access your data.
- DriveShare
DriveShare allows you to natively access
your data in the secure file system. And since DriveShare
uses the proven technology of SSL you now have the
ability to securely access your files remotely giving
you the capability to access your data whenever
and wherever you are.
- CryptoFS, DriveShare
and Reflections
When you combine DriveShare, Reflections
and CryptoFS it gives you the power to mirror your
data, securely access your file system and cryptographically
secure your data. No other product suite in existence
gives you this type of data security and access.
